China-European Agreement on Plant Quarantine Requirements for Fresh Grapes Exported to China

    The 6-member delegation of the deputy director of the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) visited Egypt and conducted talks and exchanges with the Egyptian Ministry of Health on strengthening cooperation in port sanitation and quarantine. On November 20-22, 2016, witnessed by the Chinese ambassador to Egypt Song Aiguo and Egyptian Agriculture Minister Dr. Essam Othman Fayed, the two sides signed the “About Egyptian Table Grapes” The Protocol on Quarantine Requirements for Plants Exported to China was reported by major Egyptian media.


     The export of fruits to China is a topic of intense concern to the Egyptian government and exporters. Increasing exports to China and reducing the trade deficit with China are the key concerns of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The successful signing of the protocol for the export of grapes to Egypt was the second fruit following Egypt's export of fresh oranges. It has received widespread attention and welcome. The Egyptian side hopes to start the application for the next fruit export to China as soon as possible.
